Just Passing Thru ... 1983 Fuji "Team"

1983 Fuji "Team"

Recently purchased off of Boston's Craigslist by my friend Alex, it's now moving on to the sunny weather of Florida where my other friend Jose will enjoy it's almost new condition. All original, there's very few miles on this Team, it's the most spectacular example I've ever seen.  There's some evidence of it spending a great amount of it's life upside down resting on the ground, it's rubber hoods have deteriorated and are flattened on the tops.  The greatest amount of wear that I can find are the two small scuffs on the saddle. An incredible find ..

Fuji BMX ... The Other End of the Catalog.

Most of us know the beginning pages of Fuji catalogs, the Professional, the Newest, the Finest. It's what we lust and search for.

However, there's a different breed out there, the BMX riders.  Here's a great website that has some great info and collateral material from the other side of the moon.  Check it out!

I don't ride one, I never have.  But they are so beautiful, so cool. The gold Fuji Feather Professional is now on my "must have" list.  At least to photograph!

Provenance at it's best .... 1981 Fuji "Professional Super Record"

1981 Fuji "Professional Super Record"

An exremely rare bird from the slopes of Mt. Fuji and Vicenza, Italy, home of the master Tullio Campagnolo.  It brings a mix of old world quality and lore, combined with the exquiste Fuji mastery of frame building, design and finishing.

I purchased this Professional from the Ritvo collection of William Bevington, it's another "one of a kind", mint condition Fuji models that William owns. This Super Record includes a personally engraved Crystem stem, it was Eugene "Gene" Ritvo's personal ride for many years.

I've photographed it alongside it's counterpart, my 1981 Superbe equipped Professional.

Three Fuji "Professionals" 1977-1981 ... A Dream Project

I've been lucky enough to acquire three Fuji "Professional" frames, one that I've purchased, two are on loan from the Bevington Collection for restoration and rebuilding. All three are unique or one of a kind .. The 1981, a custom factory paint job in raspberry and sky blue with a very different serial number, the 1977 with it's very distinctive fork and the 1979, a mind blowing serial number of 79B 00001. Each frame has additional history which I'll add as the builds are complete and posted in the future.

Friday Night Sites, the 70's show

The Polaroid SX-70. As beautifully designed and crafted as the Fuji bicycle. Thanks to modern digital filters, I've gone back in time and photographed some of my favorites once again.
